Alocasia 'Venom' is a cultivated Alocasia that has found an audience among plant collectors for its unusual leaf texture, pale silvery coloration and a distinctive elongated leaf tip that curls into a narrow, tail-like form. The shield-shaped leaves carry softly undulating margins, pronounced raised venation and a lightly puckered surface, giving each leaf a sculptural, dimensional look that reads clearly even from across a room.
Foliage begins as a darker green on juvenile leaves, then shifts as the plant matures toward its signature pale, matte, silvery-green finish, which stays consistent rather than deepening with age. Veins sit slightly lighter than the surrounding tissue, producing subtle contrast without heavy patterning. This cultivar was found around 2019 by Mason Lee of Mason Plants in South Korea as a spontaneous mutation of Alocasia Amazonica, and its name refers to the dramatic curled tip, which resembles a tail or a fang-like extension.
With a compact, upright growth habit and a rhizomatous base, 'Venom' is a fitting candidate for a shelf, desk or plant stand where its silhouette can be viewed up close, or as a focal point grouped with other foliage plants that share similar light and humidity preferences.
It thrives in bright, indirect light, evenly moist but well-draining airy aroid soil, warm temperatures and high humidity. Care guidance is offered as a suggestion for this cultivar; the specific needs of an individual plant may vary, so ongoing care should follow the included plant care notes or the grower's instructions where provided.
